Facilities

Facilities resources provides access to organizations that have information about clean-up, as well as other assistance to the affected campuses in managing the aftermath of Hurricanes Katrina, Rita, and/or Wilma.

APPA: The Association for Higher Education Facilities Officers
Reaching out, nearly a dozen APPA member colleges and universities are in the midst of disaster relief efforts following the devastation of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. SRAPPA, the Southeastern Region of APPA, has established an e-mail listserv to help with communications among and about the schools and their relief efforts or needs.  To join the list, contact Kate Van Sant, SRAPPA's vice president for communications, at kate.vansant@mail.wvu.edu.

Before and After Disasters: Federal Funding for Cultural Institutions
This document was written by Heritage Preservation, with funding from  the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) as a service to the American cultural community. It is designed to provide archives, art centers, libraries, museums, historical societies, and historical sites with information on how to obtain the resources they will need to prepare for and recover from a disaster.

Providing weekly updates on the Restoration Progress for gas and electricity to New Orleans

National Association of College Auxillary Services
Offering assistance and advise to institutions that were affected by Hurricane Katrina

National Association of College Stores
Providing a variety of relief efforts by collecting donations for college stores that were affected by Hurricane Katrina and listing resources to help those shops recover

Sewage and Water Board of New Orleans: Response to the hurricanes-FAQs
Providing current information to their customers about water and sewage safety and availability

U.S. Post Office
Providing regular updates regarding availability of mail delivery for the Gulf Coast on the National Mail Service Updates
