IT assistance for campuses in the Gulf Coast affected by Hurricanes Katrina, Rita, and/or Wilma.

Association for Communications Technology Professionals in Higher Education (ACUTA)
ACUTA members (both institutional and corporate) are currently forming corps of volunteers who are willing to go to the affected schools to provide on-site assistance with such tasks as damage assessment, cabling, writing, physical set-up of networks and systems, equipment repair, etc.  They will also welcome volunteers to perform such off-site activities as hosting emergency websites for institutions that are offline, and hosting audio or video conferences for teaching or administrative purposes. If you are interested in these volunteer opportunities, or if you are in need of assistance (or know of an institution that needs help), please go to the ACUTA Web site, or e-mail Kellie Bowman, Membership Development Manager.

In addition, if ACUTA corporate affiliate members wish to offer any pro-bono services, ACUTA will add them to the list of volunteers and make this listing available via the ACUTA Web site, other associations’ Web sites, and the media.

ACUTA also plans to match their members’ personal donations up to a total of $5,000, upon submittal of proof of donation.  Please email or fax a copy of the receipt for your donation to Margaret Riley, ACUTA Business Manager (fax: 859.278.3268).
