| In response to the devastation of Hurricane Katrina, Ludwig Maximilian University Munich will help students whose home institution is unable to conduct classes for Fall, 2005. Five students will be admitted as Visiting Students into courses for which they are academically qualified and where spaces are available until January 2006 (at which time they may wish to return to their home institutions). Tuition will be waived for these students and scholarships of € 400,- per month are available. The University will provide students accommodation for the five scholarship recipients (to be paid out of the monthly stipend). Travel costs to Germany will be covered by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). Knowledge of German is preferable, but not a condition for admission. LMU offers various classes throughout the whole range of subjects in English and hosts two junior-year-abroad programs as well as German language classes for beginners.
